NRC Regulatory Information Conference
9-11 March 2011 | Rockville Maryland, USA
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold its 22nd annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) March 9-11, at the Bethesda North Marriott, 5701 Marinelli Rd., North Bethesda, Md. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend, including representatives from more than 25 foreign countries, members of Congress and a broad range of stakeholders.
"The annual Regulatory Information Conference provides an excellent opportunity for stakeholders and interested members of the public to learn more about the NRC's planned and current safety, security and environmental protection activities," said NRC Chairman Gregory B. Jaczko. "In addition to conveying important research findings and information on rulemaking, regulatory and generic issues, and process and procedure improvement, we also will be providing opportunities for discussion and feedback from attendees. I encourage members of the public who are interested in nuclear regulation to attend the RIC and participate in this important forum."
The conference brings together NRC staff, nuclear plant owners, nuclear materials users, key industry stakeholders, representatives from all levels of government, international regulators, special interest groups and the public to discuss key issues affecting the safety and security of commercial nuclear facilities and current regulatory activities.
Topics at this year's RIC include: applications for new nuclear power plants; regulatory approaches to new reactor designs; security; safety research; NRC safety culture; domestic and international nuclear power plant operating experience and other technical issues. Presentations will be delivered by the NRC Chairman, Commissioners and the Executive Director for Operations.
The conference is free and open to the public. It is a joint presentation of the NRC's Offices of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and Nuclear Regulatory Research. Those interested in attending may obtain a copy of the conference agenda and register by clicking on the RIC 2010 button on the NRC Web page at: www.nrc.gov. Early registration is encouraged; however, onsite registration will also be available during the conference.
