Congratulations to Dieter Ehlermann recipient of the prestigious IMRP Laureate Award in recognition of Outstanding Contributions in Advancing the Science of Radiation Processing.

A specialist in food process engineering, food irradiation and dosimetry, Dieter has a background of over 40 years in the field of irradiation and is well known for his significant contributions to the acceptance of food irradiation as a safe and beneficial technology. He has received international recognition for his work on the impact of science and on social development.

Congratulations to Rocco Basson in receiving the prestigious IMRP Laureate Award in recognition of Innovation and Leadership in Advancing Radiation Processing.

Having completed his Ph.D. at Cambridge University, Rocco Basson returned to South Africa in 1963 and established a school of Radiation Chemistry at the Atomic Energy Board (AEB). In 1969 he established a commercial irradiation facility at the AEB to demonstrate the viability of the technology in South Africa. In 1986, the company - High Energy Processing (Hepro)  plant was designed by him and built entirely in South Africa. Rocco is still involved as Technical Director of Hepro.

San Juan, Puerto Rico was the location of first IMRP organised by Dr. Ken Morganstern and Dr. Joe Silverman in 1976. In 1978, at IMRP#2 in Puerto Rico Dr. Charles Artandi and Paul Cook were the first recipients of the Laureate Award. This is radiation processing industry's highest honour. Since then our industry has recognized twenty-eight individuals listed below for their outstanding contributions in advancing the science, technology or business of radiation processing.
