Abstract
With years, IBA has developed innovative approaches for the sterilization by X-Ray irradiation based on the existing 7 MeV 700 kW Electron power Rhodotron. The interaction with customers, using Gamma technologies for years, pushed in the direction of a simple and flexible solution: an X-ray converter irradiate a single layer of totes. These totes include two levels of pallets and oversize the X-Ray source. The single layer and the multi-pass approach (around 2 kGy per pass) allow mixing different densities and different dose requirements tote by tote. Compared to more sophisticated solutions, the throughput stays high and the DUR is improved. The electrical efficiency is very competitive to other technologies.
