Abstract
The first gamma irradiator was constructed in China in the late of 1950's, through nearly half century's development, now there are total 101 gamma irradiators (design capacity more than 0.3 MCi) with total design capacity more than 100MCi in operation in China, and other 10 irradiators with total design capacity of 15MCi under construction. The gamma irradiators have been the main facilities for radiation processing in China, and the gamma irradiators in China have been a very important part of the world radiation processing industry. This paper presented the development history and present situation of gamma irradiators in China, detailed introduced the main technical performance and characteristics in different phases, and expected future development was also briefly described.
